I SEE YOU IN MY MEMORY
I see you in my memory
like a profound echo within my eyes,
like an obsession dwelling in my mind;
I see you as before,
upon the triumphant chariot of your longings,
like a heroic warrior in the struggle,
conqueror of the world and of mystery.

The images sparkle
upon my gray watchtower, and the encounter becomes
a rain of orchids, an offering
from the enchanted smoke of my incense.
There is grace in your smile,
the caress of my hands upon the wind,
the spell of prayer within our gazes,
the honey of the blue hive of heaven.

Today returns to my boundaries
the quiet tenderness of those times;
the hours of your childhood
soften the burning of my deserts.
You are lily, orange blossom,
the pulp of a succulent fruit,
and I renew my embrace of roots
with sap restored after winter.

Today your sun throbs within my eyes,
drawing you as the little flower of a dream,
living footprint, lament,
of the child who still journeys through your body.
